But even I gave in when we spent 2 days in the car on the way to North Carolina. Toddlers (particularly young toddlers) apparently could not give a damn about David Sedaris. So we put the Planet Earth series on for Pork Chop when he got too fussy. I'd like to think, though, that when he gets older, he'll be able to daydream with the best of them.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10044621395403018977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5695872572402143773.post-27518935030122999552014-09-25T11:54:55.142-04:002014-09-25T11:54:55.142-04:00Of course. It gives you the absolute "alone" time you sometimes need and all too often don't get. It allows you to take that soft, easy breath and just be you. Thanks for the smile and remembrance of a too long gone loved one. I want them to understand the power of head space and an open road. They have grown up leaning the alphabet game and the number game. And it's NOT always easy: I have one that gets very carsick, and pukes rather easily. And they fight. What I do now is get audiobooks (I started to write books on tape - hah!) that we all want to listen to, and you could hear a freakin' pin drop in our car (warning: I have missed exits because the story is so good!) Glad you are learning to take your "mental vacation" where you can - as a parent, this is a valuable skill, and it rarely comes during actual vacation time!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5695872572402143773.post-44461080216910983452014-09-24T08:39:32.403-04:002014-09-24T08:39:32.403-04:00An open road to clear your mind, good wine to soft...An open road to clear your mind, good wine to soften it a bit, and donuts to feed it.
